Orchestra, Music Theory I, & Music History

Nashville School of the Arts

I began playing the violin in the 4th grade. I continued playing throughout grade school, and in middle school I joined my  local community youth orchestra.  At the age of 15 with the help of my high school orchestra teacher, Jo Hix, I became a member of the Rapides Parish Symphony Orchestra in Alexandria, LA under the direction of Maestro William Kushner.  I continued to play with the RPSO until I graduated from high school and moved to Lake Charles, LA to attend McNeese State University.  In Lake Charles, I played with the Lake Charles Symphony Orchestra also under the direction of Kushner. I then transferred to Louisiana  State University in Baton Rouge. I was a member of the LSU Symphony Orchestra and studied privately with Kevork Mardirossian. I graduated from LSU in 1998 with a Bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education and have been a music teacher at Nashville School of the Arts for the past 11 years.  I have taught a variety of subjects here at NSA but my core classes are currently Music Theory I, Music History, and Orchestra.  I love the atmosphere and people at NSA and I look forward to many more years here. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy being outdoors, watching baseball, and spending time with my 2 young sons.
